Upgraded EE

Finally chained myself to the machine long enough to do the upgrade to ExpressionEngine 1.1.  I applied to beta-test the thing weeks ago but never got around to actually installing those betas — oh well, I thought I’d have more time but I didn’t, and it’s okay, they got more than enough feedback from the folks who weren’t lazy-ass lying good-for-nothin’ file-hogs.

So yeah, it’s done and Matthew HAY-yulped.  He would say "I didn’t do anything!!" but that’s not true; we had a chat running the whole time which kept me awake and concentrating.  It was good.  I was comparing, comparing, uploading and saying stuff like "huh, it looks like the commenting feature got changed" and he’d go over and look and and say "yup, it did!" ha ha.

BugMeNot is back!

MetaFilter: It’s Back!

(yeah, it was gone for a bit…)

Zlad! - Elektronik - Supersonik

Hey baby… wake up from your asleep!  Friday video silliness c/o Irwin.

Coming clean and cleaning clothes

* I’m going to upgrade my frickin’ ExpressionEngine today if it KILLS me!

* Doing laundry right now.  I keep thinking I smell cigarettes in here, it’s driving me kinda crazy!!  So maybe that’ll help.  Other than that, I’m doing great with the quitting.  Haven’t cheated, not even once.  Good for me.  :-) I do get cravings every day, but less and less now, and they only last maybe 30 seconds per crave.  I can ride those out for sure.

The Blair Witch

OK, at first I really thought this lady was off her rocker.  (a) She has crazy-eyes.  (b) She wants to sing at her wedding — listen to the mp3 on her photos page, oh my god!! and (c) Her diet apparently consists primarily of Chopped-off Hand Salad, as evidenced by that banner photo.  But after thinking about it and reading what she had to say about herself, I dunno.  She does have balls, I’ll give her that.  More power to her I guess.  I guess!!

(c/o this article which I found linked at Dave McGurgan’s)

(this post was slightly edited to ward off a troll)

Weighing in on penis size (LOL!!)

Chicagoist points us toward an article in the Trib (DAMMIT, where oh where has my BugMeNot gone?!?) which attempts for the 5 billionth time to debunk certain myths about sex.  It’s a decent article and it gives me the chance to backpedal on something I said on Sunday and later deleted.

Birthday treats

Wow, what an action-packed day I had.  I was gonna top it off by upgrading my ExpressionEngine install but now I dunno.  I have a piece of cake here and if I eat it there’s no way, ha ha.  So… I went to the zoo.  It was full of lionesses with feathered hair pushing strollers with screeching monkeys in ‘em.  Yeah.  But I had fun looking at the non-human animals too.  Oh yeah, I have pictures I still need to get off my camera and upload here.  I am full of Mexican food, I kinda pigged out today.  I made John go with me to Abril.  It’s okay Lucie, we are JUST friends, and we can DO that without any big DRAMAS okay?  LOL.  Yup, I had my favorite mole enchiladas, and after I dropped him off and went home, I went right back out to the ice cream store and got my once-a-week treat, my Strawberry Smoothie.  But that wasn’t enough, I got a piece of cake too, which I am about to bust out and put in… my cakehole, yes.  It’s okay, I’ve been so good lately, POUNDING the pavement with my walking every day, I actually weigh a pound less than I did when I quit smoking (I went up for about 3 days but now I’m back down again).  I can have one good pigout day, right?  heheh.

I could’ve embellished that with a million more details (snicker) but FUCK THAT, I wanna relax and have my cake and be edith too.  :-) Later for y’all…

My thirties are dead, long live my thirties!!

Ha ha.  Okay.  So… best present ever: Lucie got me two tickets to see the Cubs in a few weeks.  ::squeeeeal::  I am so excited!!  Me and Sarah Pop-Tart are going, it’s a game against the Expos.  Rob J. tells me that the Cubs will probably win that one, which would be great too, but I’m just totally psyched to be going at all.  LUCIE IS THE BEST, BEST BEST SISTER EVER.  I dig my other sister Lilly a lot too but LUCIE IS SO THE BEST when she thinks up these surprises for me!!!  ha ha.  This is not a competition.  But oh, I love her, she is SO awesome.

Tartar / Foofaraw

The Merriam-Webster word of the day is tartar; one of the definitions for that is "a person of irritable or violent temper." Ha ha!!!  And the Dictionary.com Word of the Day is foofaraw, or, in the definition I choose to accept at this moment, "much ado about nothing".  Man… ::shew::  Tell me about it!!

366 Movies is dead, long live 366 Movies!!

Poor Zeb, he’s shutting down his 366 Movies project.  I feel very bad for him feeling the way he’s feeling, but I always enjoyed his site and it’s no skin off my nose whether it’s 10 entries, 20 or 365.  I know where he’s coming from too, at least I know I can relate to the basic black foulness of the mood he’s in.  I hope he’s not pissed at me, but he could very well be lumping me in with all that because of who I am (a person "wasting time" in the arts) and things I’ve said to him in the past, who knows?  So, whatever.  I’m in more or less the same boat, frothing at the mouth for reasons which can’t be immediately understood by outsiders without lots of explanations that we’re much more likely to screw up than we are to get correctly.  I hope he feels better soon.  He did a great job on that site, I hope that stuff stays online at least.  My dad turned into a fan of his as well, and I told Zeb that, but… that could’ve been interpreted the wrong way, like as a kick in the ass rather than a thumbs-up for the good work he’s done.  Ugh.

So, the word of the day on Dictionary.com is pervicacious, meaning stubborn or obstinate.  And over at Merriam-Webster it’s practically the same idea: froward, meaning "habitually disposed to disobedience and opposition".  Are they talking about ZEB?  Nawwww, that’s impossible, because the w.o.d.’s are always all about ME!  And the shoe fits me just fine, heheh.

More trouble for the Kinks

Pitchfork: The Kinks’ Dave Davies paralyzed

Oh man… sending my good vibes his way fer sure.

Living in a castle, wandering thru restaurants

So I dreamed I was living in a great big castle, whoo-hoo!  ha ha.  Complete with handome English chaps galloping on horseback in the mist-covered fields outside.  And ONE of y’all (I will decline to say who) lived in the castle across the street (LOL). We were totally about to get it on at one point but I found him to be Too Young For Me so we just stayed friends.  tee hee.  (It’s times like these that it’s so great that I don’t have a boyfriend ‘cuz I’d never recount this stuff if I did!!)

Also, I was strolling around downtown in some city, and went into a bar/restaurant just to see what it was all about. I was informed that the eatery was formerly owned by an old gangster — not Al Capone but somebody else with the initials RR?  The matchbooks had RR printed on ‘em.  The door to the place was just a hole built into the ceiling and I had to make friends with a sassy waitress before she’d let me know how to get out. (You had to climb onto a counter and stand on a certain table, reach up, and pull yourself out.) I walked off and then had to go through yet another restaurant, I think that one was Earl Abel’s in San Antonio. But there was a mariachi band in the foyer, which would never happen at the real place.

Good for everything!

I AM STILL IN MY THIRTIES

This is my second or 3rd time waking up in only about 4 hours!!  My inability to sleep normally has been messin’ with me somethin’ awful since I stopped smoking pot, and now with the further "deletion" of ciggies from my universe, it’s worse than ever.  I know it’s probably just a chemical or habit-related thing, but what to do in the meantime while I’m readjusting to the New Me?  Rian suggested I invest in some *red* tea from a coffee/tea place he knows of; of course I immediately forgot the name and location but I’ll e-mail him and get it in writing.  I have no tea around my house except the caffeinated kind.

Daddy sent me some birthday money, yayyy!!  Got the check in the mail today (=yesterday).  I’ll still be pretty broke when it’s deposited, but at least I’ll be a broke person who’s slightly more current on a few more bills than she would have been otherwise.  Heh.
