Yep, congratulations to the White Sox for sweeping the Series this year. And, my sincerest condolences to my brother-in-law Mark and my nephew Thomas, both Astros fans who had tickets to game five, which of course won’t be happening… I do feel bad for them. Seriously. Ten year old kid with a ticket to the freakin’ World Series and he can’t even go, how heartbreaking is that?!?
But other than THAT, I’m totally stoked. Yeah, I’ve been a Cubs fan for awhile, but now I’m a Sox fan too. I can dig ‘em both, it’s okay. :-)
A few shows have been confirmed for THIS WEEK, sorry for the last-minute notice! I’ll be opening for Calexico and Iron and Wine in Tulsa on Friday, Fort Worth on Saturday and Austin on Sunday. Or rather I’ll be playing in the middle, between the two I&W / Calexico sets. Just a 30-minute solo set, but still. It’ll be lots of fun and I’m really excited and honored that they asked me to join them.
(I JUST got back yesterday from a few days visiting the folks in Austin / San Antonio, so it’s pretty funny I’m going right back a week later.)
Go to Drag City for an MP3 of "Emergency", a song from my new album It’s a Game, which is coming out on Nov. 15th. The MP3’s only going to be up for the next few weeks so go giddit while you can! I hope you dig it.
c/o grachel steinmeier…

Five tips for a woman….
It is important that a man helps you around the house and has a job.
It is important that a man makes you laugh.
It is important to find a man you can count on and doesn’t lie to you.
It is important that a man loves you and spoils you.
It is important that these four men don’t know each other.
Eric took me to see Bruce Springsteen tonight (=last night), playing solo at the United Center. Shut up, you!! It was really good, I swear. I was really impressed with his amazing songs and musicianship, especially on the pump organ. Shut the hell UP!!! I did NOT mean it that way and you know it. He was GOOD, so shutthefuckup!! He played a Suicide song fer chrissakes, just get the fuck over yourself. Okay. Thank you.
Baaa ha ha ha ha!!! Thanks John. Thanks a lot. ;-)
Overall, It’s a Game is too diffuse and uneven for casual listeners, but hardcore Bay City Rollers fans will no doubt find it to be an intriguing listen.
Mark says I should only play on S - A - T-U-R - D-A-Y… NIGHTs!!
