Wow, I found and just finished entering pages from a journal I did in 1993-4, during the time when I first joined the rockabilly band and also had the Marfa Lights and the Holler Sisters going at the same time.  I only had to do a teensy bit of editing on the potsmoking and family dramas, tee hee.  It starts on a post I I’ve titled New Brooklyn Notebook… the pages have no titles so I had to make ‘em up.  The journal ends suddenly after just a couple of months, but the entries I did do kick ass.  I had no real memory of even doing this journal, and only dim memories of most of the stuff I’m talking about.  (Stoner!!)

After that era in my life, things got really crazy… I got married to the guy I was so in love with during that journaling period, I hooked up with Drag City, quit my Muze job — it was a real weird time there at Muze, but it got a lot better for the employees after they moved the office to Manhattan later on.  Anyway, I started doing HTML and working on my own music a lot more.  I got fired by that rockabilly band for being too busy with other projects and for refusal to dress up in vintage cat clothes.  Marc had quit the band by that time and we had a different bass player, Carl, but I’m still friends with Marc even now.  The Marfa Lights died out when Jeff moved back to Austin, I’m still in touch with Jeff.  My friend Robbie Jacks in Austin died a few years ago, very suddenly.  :-( But it was nice to go back and read about some happy times I had hanging out with him.  :-)

After THAT, the whole marriage thing went in the crapper, the hubby got involved with some errr… undesired elements, and turned very mean on me alla sudden.  You know in the movie 28 Days Later with the zombie on the chain foaming at the mouth and wanting to rip your head off?  It was kinda like that.  So I basically had to flee New York for Chicago.  Shit la vie!  It’s no fun to think about but it’s what got me here, I suppose, and that’s certainly been a good thing for me.  But now you know why I’m only calling him by his first initial; that’s simply one name I will not allow on my website.  I’m keeping his best friend’s name private as well ‘cuz I just don’t feel comfortable, I don’t know if they’re still friends or what.

Sigh.
