I went on a pilgrimage to Filene’s this morning but went away disappointed, just couldn’t find anything that spoke to me.  So later on I finally paid a visit to the thrift store up the street from me.  I’ve been meaning to go there forever… it’s not as thrift-ey as I would’ve thought, more boutique-y.  Nice stuff though, and pretty decent prices considering all the designer labels.  I only bought one thing, but it’s a goodie: a lovely plain black shirt, 75% silk.  There was no price tag so he gave it to me for $15, not bad!

Since I turned forty I’ve been trying to buy nicer stuff than I have in the past.  Things that make me look classy and stylish rather than… trendy or "hip" or what have you.  I don’t shop for clothes very often though, I’m not much of a clothes horse, so it’s even more important that when I do buy something, it needs to really count.  My goal is to have nicer things, but a lot less of them!  Just don’t have the room or the patience to keep a bunch of crappy clothes around that I’ll never wear.  Those big green donation bins that have cropped up around town in the past few years, those have been my salvation for purging old clothes.  Yay for them.

Speaking of purging, I think I’m finally ready to wipe the drive on my old PC and get rid of it.  I wanted to wait a day or so before I did it, to be sure there was nothing on there I’d forgotten about, but I think I’m okay.  I already gathered up all my old Windows-only software into a big box to go out with the computer.  Sure will feel good to get that stuff out of my life once and for all.  Ptooey!

Last night Eric played at a benefit for the Rainbow House… I wonder if they’d be interested in a donated computer?  Googling around it seems there are lots of places that will be if they’re not.  I’m just not sure that Craigslist is gonna be worth the trouble, when I can just donate it and maybe take a little bit off my taxes next year instead.  Hmmm.
