This is the (hopefully) full list of *every* record I’ve been involved with. See the category links to narrow it down to just my own records, appearances on compilations, or guest appearances on other people’s records.
Jenny Toomey is the executive director of the Future of Music Coalition. You’ll also remember her from the band Tsunami, and the label Simple Machines. This is her first solo record; one disc was recorded in Chicago and the other in Nashville. I sang backups on some of the Chicago tracks: "Patsy Cline", "Baby Would It Matter", "Word Traffic", "Clear Cut", and "Breezewood, PA".
I did backup vocals on the songs "Breakout", "For a Friend", "Elephant Candy", and "What Do You Want The Girl To Do". I may be on others as well. The lead singer of Chestnut Station is my old friend Rian Murphy, who also produced my records Calling Over Time, Love is Real and Wonder Wonder.
Includes two songs of mine, "Ancestors" and "Cold and On My Mind", which were previously released on my ANCESTORS single in 1997.
Also features rare or previously unreleased tracks by Kristin Hersh (of Throwing Muses), Melissa Auf der Mar (Hole, Smashing Pumpkins), Mimi Parker (Low), Rebecca Gates (Spinanes), Paula Frazer (Tarnation) w/ Mark Eitzel (American Music Club), and Julie Doiron (formerly of Eric’s Trip). A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this CD will benefit Shanti Project of San Francisco, an AIDS/HIV assistance provider.
I did backups, along with Carla Torgerson of the Walkabouts, on almost all the songs. This is the European version — a slightly different version was released in the U.S. on February 20, 2001 on Slow River / Rykodisc.
This is a four-song 12" EP / CD-EP. I did backups on all 4 songs, along with a whole bunch of other singers like Bill Callahan (Smog), Kelly Hogan, Archer Prewitt, and Laetitia Sadier (Stereolab).
A compilation of live performances at the Blue Room Theatre in Chico, CA. Includes a live version of my song "Calling Over Time", along with other tracks by Richard Buckner, The Dismemberment Plan, Burning Airlines, Braid, and lots more.
POPnews is a cool French webzine, and this was their first compilation. My song "Follow" (the original 4-track demo) appears, along with tracks by The Apartments, Ashtray, Brian, Burzinski, Dakota Suite, Idaho, Lenola, Paloma, Saloon, Splinter, Steph Sonotone, Vera Clouzot, Willard Grant Conspiracy, and William Pears.
I did some backup vocals, along with Neko Case and Kelly Hogan, on the following songs (I think!): "Myth", "City of London", "Cast No Shadows", "Something to be Scared Of" and "Last Night on Earth," which is available as an MP3 on Epitonic.
I did backup vocals on all the songs — "Color of the Sun" (radio edit), "Work Song" (radio edit), "Love Doesn’t", "Sticky" (alternate version), and "Massachusetts".
I’m not sure of the exact release date for this. It was only sold at shows, and sent to radio stations when the album MOJAVE was released. That was in September 1999 for Europe, and January 2001 for the United States.
