Garland of Hours

My friend Amy Domingues just sent me a copy of her new CD, called Garland of Hours.  It’s her first solo effort… sounds sooooo good, and it’s so neat to hear her singing finally.  Y’all be sure to buy it when it comes out, which I assume is soon.  It’s on Arrest Records out of Arlington, VA.

Manilow breaks his nose

Barry Manilow has a broken nose after bumping into a wall late at night in his Palm Springs home.  The shattered remains are currently being reassembled at a local airplane hangar.

Another obit

Classy Freddie Blassie passed away yesterday.  :-( They just don’t make ‘em like they used to.

Getcher NoteBook

Circus Ponies Software just slashed the price of their NoteBook software to $49.95.  I still love it and use it every day, so this is all the more reason to urge y’all to try out the demo. I’m excited to find out what they’re going to do in the next (first!) update, whenever that may be.

Random blog designs

Check out the blog design generator at StrangeBanana.  That is a lot of fun!!  Heard about it on the Screen Savers.  I watch that show every day, as any good geek should. Or anyway I half-watch it, kinda like I do with All My Children.  I put it on and absorb whatever I can, let’s put it that way.

The Cool Candys and friends

Check out these outfits…!

Thanks Scott.

Linky linky

At first I got all indignant and shit, that somebody called their website Linky Linky and didn’t even have the courtesy to link to ME.  Then I googled that term.  Oh well.  Guess I need the occasional reminder that I didn’t invent the whole freakin’ internet.

Too much information?

Some days the dullest blog in the world is about all the entertainment I can handle.

Pretty pretty pitchers

Untitled by Don Di SanteI’m so impressed with the paintings of John’s coworker Don Di Sante. Go see them through May 31st at the Riverside Arts Center, along with works by Nancy Rosen.

Hamtramck is next

Where is PETA trying to go with this anyway?  Unless they want to be treated as a joke.

Looking for drugs

There’s a new multi-platform distributed computing software out called d2ol… it’s similar to SETI Online, but instead of looking for little green men, it’s looking for a cure for SARS.  I just downloaded the client for OS X.  The site’s been slashdotted but I guess that’s a good thing, it means lots of people are interested!  Dunno if this is a community-minded project — is this a drug company that’s only going to profit from the generosity of net-geeks?  But I guess it’s more important to find the drug than to worry about somebody else getting rich off it.

Teach your children

From a story at ABCNews.com:

To build its case for war with Iraq, the Bush administration argued that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, but some officials now privately acknowledge the White House had another reason for war — a global show of American power and democracy.

They were just spoilin’ for a fight; so what if they had to lie about it?

Born in the USA

Sorry to keep harping on this, but I wanna point out in case you didn’t notice, that even Bruce Springsteen has come out with a statement in support of the Dixie Chicks.  He didn’t say anything about the war, he just said they have a right as Americans to speak their minds.  He sure didn’t have to, but bless his heart for saying it. I just wish I could see a few NASHVILLE musicians follow suit, but who would?  Dwight’s the only one I can think of who might actually have the balls.  I have no idea about his politics, but he’s got a big enough mouth!

Bend over, America

Now being Slashdotted at the Washington Post…

The former privacy officer of Internet advertising giant DoubleClick will be the Department of Homeland Security’s first privacy czar, Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge announced today.

Lullaby for Liquid Pig

A new Lisa Germano album got released today.  Must have it!!
