Journal

I’ve made this category to denote entries which were posted at some point after they were written, as opposed to normal blog entries which were slapped up on the web immediately.

Work party

What a week I’m having ! ! !  Today was my last day at work, I have two weeks off (NO WAY!) and I don’t have to come back until after the new year.  Today was cool because I’d finished all the bullshit work earlier this week.  I could just fuck around and play Tetris and stuff.

Cleanup from the storm

Note: This is a journal entry — it was written on paper or on my computer, then transferred to my website, maybe years later.

D. just left — we took the train home together after meeting in front of Kiev after work — on a mission to the "Wreck-a-Stow." We’ve been meeting in the morning the past couple of days to ride the J train to work — they finally pumped the water out of the L tunnel and we were able to ride it home tonight.  Now I have no excuses for being horribly late in the morning and not even giving a shit.

The big Nor’easter

Note: This is a journal entry — it was written on paper or on my computer, then transferred to my website, maybe years later.

So anyway, Friday was the worst storm in decades.  When I went to work in the morning it was a fuckin’ hurricane.  When I was riding up the elevator, the car was scraping against the walls of the elevator shaft — it was so windy the whole building was swaying.  And I’m sitting in my office talking to D. work-to-work, and the walls are creaking and the rain’s whipping against the window.

Industry party

Note: This is a journal entry — it was written on paper or on my computer, then transferred to my website, maybe years later.

I hardly have time to write in this thing anymore.  This has been a busy week!  Thursday night I took D. (well, he drove me actually) to a Christmas party at Soundtrack Studios.  It was crowded as all hell, but there was food and drink to be had.  Tito Puente was playing at some point but we couldn’t fight the crowd.  We hung out by the oyster shucker guy instead.

D. has been sick with a cold that he caught from me.  He took Thursday off from work, but was up for the party.

I’ll have to write later.  D. wants me to tag along while he picks up Jessica.

Well and truly

I’m at D.’s place and he’s playing guitar with the drum machine.  Life is good.  Yesterday after D. was through with his parents, he came over to see me — I was still fucking around in my pajamas, sick and everything.

OK, now I’m home, but I can only write for a second, and I can tell I’ll be writing all day on this, so forget about what fuckin’ time it is.

Jeff is about to come over to rehearse.  I have to teach him "Searchin’" and tell him about the idea about picking tunes out of a hat.

Getting over a cold

Note: This is a journal entry — it was written on paper or on my computer, then transferred to my website, maybe years later.

I caught a cold.  Everybody at work’s sick, and Diane had a cold when I saw her on Wednesday + Thursday.  That’s bad thing #1.  Bad thing #2 is that my phone is out YET AGAIN — it went out just two weeks ago.  I was supposed to go meet D.’s parents today but I didn’t want to gross them out by coughing + spewing all over them.  Last night we discussed the possibility of this being a Felix-Unger-type sickness, cause I was real nervous about meeting his folks.  But considering how many people were out sick from work yesterday, I doubt that’s it.  I was nervous, but I was looking forward to it — maybe next week if D. doesn’t catch this cold too.

You could just hurl

Note: This is a journal entry — it was written on paper or on my computer, then transferred to my website, maybe years later.

I was forced to spend an entirely D.-less day today and it’s not easy.  We talked on the phone a lot, but he had to rehearse with Sonny and some other guys, and besides, we’ve spent every single day together lately.  Jessica advised D. that we ought to spend one day apart — not much to ask, right?  HA!

Goofy alright

Note: This is a journal entry — it was written on paper or on my computer, then transferred to my website, maybe years later.

D. and I are so goofy in love it would make you blow chunks.  On the work-to-work phone calls today he was telling me what a good mood he was in and how happy and goofy he felt, and how he missed me and wished he were back in bed with me.

Rose-colored glasses

Fuck this pen.

I’m going to do an I Ching reading on Edith + D.

53 Chien (Gradual Progress) > 20 Kuan (Contemplation)
53: The maiden is given in marriage bringing good fortune.  Righteous perseverence is advantageous.

(Not-so-positive subtext not transcribed for copyright reasons since it was copied from my I Ching book.)

Got a boyfriend

Note: This is a journal entry — it was written on paper or on my computer, then transferred to my website, maybe years later.

It’s been over a week since I’ve written in this thing!  That’s because of my New Boyfriend!  D.  God, we have been hanging out together every single day the past couple of weeks.

Got a kiss

I am now Completely and Totally Infatuated with D.

Last night after work I stopped by Ear Wax and got Big Star’s first CD.  Tom wants me to buy a Lefty Frizzell 12-CD collection for $300!

So after that I went home and took the most delicious nap.  I can never waste the time to do that on a schoolnight.  I talked to D. around 11:00 and he picked me up shortly thereafter to go get Jessica.  We stopped someplace to drop off an invitation to her art opening tomorrow, I mean today.  YESTERDAY it was tomorrow.

Gift from the gynecologist

Tonight was our last open-mic gig until after the gig on Jan. 2nd.  We did only songs with "Love" in the title.  "Rarely/I Live For Love," "Jinx of Love," "I’m Saving My Love," "I Wish I Could Fall In Love Again," and "Please Be My Love." I think Jinx of Love went over so great.  We played it best of all the songs.  I GOTTA WRITE MORE TUNES FOR MY GIG!!!  NEW TUNES!

Got a real gig

Note: This is a journal entry — it was written on paper or on my computer, then transferred to my website, maybe years later.

Jeff and I finally rehearsed again tonight.  Last night he called it off because he had a sore throat, so I worked on words for that Jinx of Love thing.  I played it for him and we might even do it tomorrow at Open Mic.

Yesterday after work I talked to Nora about the gig on Jan. 2nd.  She wrote it in the book and everything.  We hadn’t arrived at a name yet, so for the purposes of the calendar I just told her to say Jeff + Edith.  Or rather Edith + Jeff.  I want to use the name "The Walkers" but he didn’t act too thrilled about that idea.  So anyway, we’re all set to play with Poor Lyrics.

Cold fishes

Today was another D. day.  A couple of work-to-work phone calls, and after work he came over and we got high and we went to Man With Hat On to visit the "Wreck-a-Stow." I have to bring him again (so he can start going there too) because I didn’t do it right this time.  I had him wait outside and I was going to ask if it was cool + let him in.  But it was not cool.  But I got pot for us both anyhow.

In love with I Live For Love

Note: This is a journal entry — it was written on paper or on my computer, then transferred to my website, maybe years later.

Last night Jeff bowed out of rehearsing, and I was too toasted to do anything anyway.  I didn’t even go to Ronnie’s going away party at the Green Room.  So I stayed home and worked on some words for the guitar riff I did the other night.  They’re really retarded but I can’t think of any better ones, it’s called Make You Love Me.  I did finally talk to Shelley last night, it had been weeks.  She is such a character.  She was ranting about everything she hates, like David Lynch.
