Journal

I’ve made this category to denote entries which were posted at some point after they were written, as opposed to normal blog entries which were slapped up on the web immediately.

Registration schmegistration!

Well, I registered PalmJournal last night at PalmGear.  Also SymbolHack and Thoughtmill.  I know I can find cracked versions on the ‘net for any program I want, but hey, I like the idea of supporting the authors, since I try to live off royalties myself.

Funny how this thing doesn’t let you make multiple entries on the same day — I always go to bed at around 5am so my "days" are a little skewed timewise.  I really like the program though.  What a geek — installing & registering an app just so I can take notes about how much I like the app!!

Boring without Jordan

Note: This is a journal entry — it was written on paper or on my computer, then transferred to my website, maybe years later.

Should I register this program?  Am I really going to use it?  Should I just use Memo Pad for my journal and make the records private?  NAAAH….  I kinda like this.  (grin)

Big Brother was boring tonight without Jordan… :-( Shit, she was probably on Letterman tonight and I missed it.  Me and John watched some Arnold Schwarzenegger flick called "End of Days".  I had huge problems with the plotline etc., but it served its purpose, we wanted to see a stupid movie! Gabriel Byrne was Satan.  Sheesh!!

Just downloaded this journal program.  Pretty kewl!!  Only a nag screen, nice.  I dig it, I’ll probably register it.  Wish you could see an index view though.  Also you can’t have multiple entries on the same day, oh well.

Wow, they just voted Gervase off the Survivor island, and Jordan out of the Big Brother house.  I kinda liked Jordan, maybe I identify with her bitchiness and manipulativeness!!  :-)

Bit better in Brussels

Note: This is a journal entry — it was written on paper or on my computer, then transferred to my website, maybe years later.

I’m in Brussels now, I got my own hotel room at the Grand Hotel Mercure right by the venue we played at tonight, the Botanique, a sort of botanical garden-slash-events hall.  The show was pretty good — not that many people but they were very attentive & quiet.

Feeling shitty in Nantes

Note: This is a journal entry — it was written on paper or on my computer, then transferred to my website, maybe years later.

I’m in Nantes, in the dressing room at L’Olympic.  Ryan woke up at 6:30 am and left the hotel in Paris for a walk while I slept. They brought us some breakfast (coffee, orange juice & croissants) and Jean-Luc picked us up at 10am to take us to the train. We were early so I bought some postcards & stamps and mailed them off — to John, Mimo & Lindy and John M. in San Antonio.  I owe a lot of correspondence but that’s a start.  The train was incredibly fast! I had a window seat and slept a little bit when I wasn’t looking at the scenery.

Notes from Paris

Note: This is a journal entry — it was written on paper or on my computer, then transferred to my website, maybe years later.

Hey guess what, I’m in Paris! I’m supposed to be in Bordeaux but we had trouble getting out of Chicago yesterday so we’re a day late — the Bordeaux show was cancelled.  :-( Our plane’s electric power generator failed while we were sitting on the tarmac waiting to leave — we sat there 3 hours and they replaced the generator, it also failed, and finally they let us off the plane and told us to come back in the morning.  The airline (United) put us up in a hotel by the airport — a French hotel no less! So we left around 7:30 am and arrived here around 10:30 pm Paris time. It’s me and Ryan in case you’re wondering about me saying "we" all the time.

Hanging out at John’s

Note: This is a journal entry — it was written on paper or on my computer, then transferred to my website, maybe years later.

I’ve got so much to do and all I’m doing is making LISTS of everything I need to do.  My life is way too complicated and it’s always getting worse!  When I’m on tour it’s all pretty simplified ’cause there’s only so much you can do when you’re not at home.

John fixed me a wonderful lasagna dinner last night.  I didn’t even leave his place all day yesterday! We’re spending the night at my place tonight, to vary the routine a little.

Plotting tours

Note: This is a journal entry — it was written on paper or on my computer, then transferred to my website, maybe years later.

I just found out that Amy Domingues can do the tour in April with me & Danielson! Me on guitar and Amy on cello… should I think about a third person? Maybe Julie Pomerleau on violin?

I ran a buttload of errands yesterday — to Flower to pay the booking fees on the Lullaby tour; to the bank; to Drag City to turn in the extra merch and the pager, and pay off what I owed on merch.  Jeremy was well pleased with all the press I’d collected.

Notes from home

It’s so great to be back home.  The Chicago show at Empty Bottle was soooo excellent! It was totally packed.  What a thrill to look over all those HEADS. Chris Mills opened with his "acoustic set" — which just means he was playing an acoustic guitar, he was still loud as fuck.  :-)

Notes from Iowa City

Note: This is a journal entry — it was written on paper or on my computer, then transferred to my website, maybe years later.

Whoah, I got totally interrupted there! Denver really sucked, it was by far the worst show we’ve played.  We had a good show in Lawrence KS last night — sure had trouble getting there from Denver though.  Weather shit of course… we tried to leave that night after the show because the drive was so long, but the highway was an ice rink and we actually had to double back towards Denver to find a motel.  We’re in Iowa City now, at Gabe’s Oasis… I’m watching the merch table while Lullaby plays their set.  This is the last show before we go home to Chicago for a show @ the Bottle tomorrow.  The audience is being really noisy; it’s Friday so I guess they’re just here to drink and party.  I can’t wait to go home — I’m so grumpy and punchy from touring so long.  Whine whine.

Notes from Denver

I’m in a Starbucks in Boulder, Colorado.  We played in Salt Lake City the other day — met & stayed with a cool couple named Glade & Davina.  We had yesterday to drive to Denver for the next show but ended up in Boulder (~20 minutes away) so we could spend the night with Ryan’s friends Matt & Shannon.  They were having a dinner party when we got there last night — I wasn’t really up for the socializing but whatever — beggars can’t be choosers!

Notes from Portland

I’m in Portland, OR, touring with Lullaby for the Working Class.  We’re playing at a cool club called EJ’s — we just finished soundcheck.  I’m playing this tour with Ryan Hembrey on bass & guitar and Jason Adasiewicz on drums and glockenspiel.  I’ve never toured with Jason before — he’s only 21 and really acts his age sometimes most of the time!
