Site Updates

Website down. :-(

It’s midnight and my website and e-mail have been down since mid-afternoon.  I wrote an e-mail to Binary Blocks, and called their tech-support number twice, but no one’s gotten back to me.  They did respond to my e-mails from this weekend to say that they’d had trouble with a client’s site, moved him to another server and that I wouldn’t have any more problems.  Famous last words.

Website’s working again

Website’s working again.  I have no idea why it was down so long, but hey, let’s not get too spoiled over this internet thing.  It was tired, it needed a weekend to itself, I dunno!!

More musician pics

Added more pictures to the gallery, mostly in the my-pics-of-other-musicians section…

More pictures up

Did some adding and preening on the "my pictures" section of the photo gallery…

Moved to Binary Blocks

If the site seems a little faster than it was before, that’s because I’ve moved it to a new server! I wanted to stop mooching web-space off my friend Carl Steadman, who’s been hosting my site for the past year or so (and who hosted my pointer for many years before that). My new site’s at BinaryBlocks. They have a great deal, $35 a year for 50 megs. Edithfrost.com only takes up about 8 megs at the moment so I’ll have plenty of room to add new stuff!

What’s new

The passing of another year heralds new creation, i.e. a new album (details are on my discography page), and the fact that I had to separate 2000’s guestbook messages onto their own page.  New messages, of which there are none, are on the main guestbook page.  Our DSL *still* hasn’t been turned on by the way.

Resurrected the old search engine

What the hell… I can’t even remember why I took it down before.

Did you notice?

I changed my colors around.  Just fiddling around with the look’n'feel — I made a new set of banners using CoolText and then of course my old colors looked ugly; I’m still messing with those so bear with me until I find a legible combination.  Also, I know I’ve changed my links around about five times already, but guess what, I blew off JumpList.  It was just too unwieldy for me, AND I got all excited about this other service I found, LinkGuard.  It checks all the links on your entire site very quickly for free.  I can run this service anytime I want, so why should I keep my links on a separate server and wait for Jumplist to verify ‘em?

Whoah…

Tripod has just bumped up our space to 50 megs instead of 11!!  That’s really good news, I’m just not sure what to do with it.  ;-)

My links at JumpList

I’ve moved my links over to my new account at JumpList, where I can have nice cascading folders and my links will be checked automatically for me.  Thank god!!  That’s been my downfall ever since — hey, I’ve been on the web five years now!! — anyway, link-checking is always a pain so this way I can let the list expand without cutting into my sleep-time too much trying to check them all for staleness every month or so.  The new service has a search engine too, and you can even suggest favorite links I might want to add.

Booooo-ring

Not much going on website-wise this week, I’ve been working on music too much I guess.  Well, I did add a couple of Chicago dates to the gig-alert page, that’s something!

Moving pictures to Zing

I already outgrew my Yahoo! Photos account, so screw that.  They only give you 25 megs, whereas I have about 3 zipdisks of stuff to upload when I get the time!  How silly of me not to foresee this problem.  So anyway I’m moving all that crap over to Zing, where I can have unlimited space and mostly the same photo-manipulating capabilities that I have on Yahoo.  See my photo gallery page for links to all the proper places.

Happy 4/20!  :-)

I now have a graphics storage bin at Yahoo Photos.  Right now it’s just archived images from my ever-rotating Now Playing page.  But pretty soon I’m going to add more photo albums there, for things that don’t really belong in the photo gallery on this site… like I dunno, pictures of my family, my boyfriend, favorite places, etc.  Ever since I got that scanner, the photo gallery seems all out of control… I think I’m going to pare those pages down to the best photos and make people go to the storage bin to see everything else.  Later for that.

New/old pictures

Made a new section in the photo gallery for baby pictures etc.  There’s also new stuff on the photos-of-me page.

New Mekons

Just found out the the new Mekons record, JOURNEY TO THE END OF THE NIGHT, has been out already for a few weeks… I sang backups on it, along with mah bitches Kelly Hogan and Neko Case.  It’s now listed on my discography.
