“Cars and Parties” on Chic-A-Go-Go
Tuesday September 2, 2008 – 6:24 pmLip-syncing “Cars and Parties” on the awesome Chicago cable-access show Chic-A-Go-Go… this episode first aired on 9/4/01, and was taped a week or two before that. My bandmates “playing” here (who might have, but didn’t necessarily play on the actual recording) are: Ryan Hembrey on bass; Rick Rizzo of Eleventh Dream Day on guitar; Mark Greenberg of the Coctails on vibraphonette; Bill Lowman of Bosco & Jorge on guitar; Adam Vida of U.S. Maple on drums; and Jim Becker of Califone on fiddle. Posted here with the kind permission of Jake and Mia from Roctober / Chic-A-Go-Go. The song is from my third album Wonder Wonder.

OK, first of all, you said you’re here in Chicago for good on that! Waaaah. Second, I just grinned for the whole time watching that so much that I think my upper gums dried out and my coworkers who walked by think I’m a loon. THAT WAS SO GREAT!!
Plus, the funniest part is that I just made a check request for Jim Becker, he’s playing a dance this Friday.
Loved it! Yea Edith!

I know, it’s totally embarrassing, YEAH CHICAGO FOREVER, fists pumpin’ in the air ALL RIGHT! Ha ha. But… my heart is still there, I would still be there if not for Circumstances.
It’s so much fun to see this again. We did it in one take, and I didn’t tell any of the bandmates I was going to be doing all that dancing in their faces. I wanted to surprise them and I was laughing so hard, we were all crackin’ up laughing. I wish I hadn’t shied away from the camera so much, that’s all. It was my first time doing anything like that for TV of course.
