That video is amazing. Thanks Mitch for posting the link. I never knew it existed. I know it's been a while since I last posted, and I'm glad my grandmother's music is still a favorite of so many people. I've been going through my grandparents personal archives and have found hundreds of hours of tapes of performances throughout their career. The recordings date from the early days as the Cackle/Dezurik Sisters to the years she performed with my grandfather Rusty Gill and the Prarie Ramblers. I'll try to get some of this stuff uploaded for others to enjoy.

Some day I'll track down a copy of the 1940 Republic film "Barnyard Follies" in which they performed. If anyone has any information about this film, I would love to hear form you. My Dad (Don Gill) tried for several years to track it down, but wasn't able to. Apparently, Republic Pictures went bankrupt and no one seems to know what happened to the film library. Oh well...maybe someday!

Anyway, I love reading the posts, feel free to contact me if anyone has any questions. I'll try to answer them the best I can.

Take care.

Thanks so much! I don't have the chords written down but it's just a standard country progression, nothing to it. If you can play the one, four and five chords in the key of E, you're golden!

Hi !
Just wanted to say that I am listening to "Temporary loan". It is such a great song ! I just cannot describe how much I like it.
I listen to it from time to time in order to be wrapped in this cosy and warm atmosphere that it creates. So comfortable !
I have met you a couple of years ago in Limoges (France). At this time I had just listened to your CD once and found so incredible to see you in this remote place we live in. This CD is still ranking on top of my collection.
Well, happy new year ! I wish you the best, and I hope you'll have the opportunity again to go to France. I'd be glad to meet you again.

Hey, just followed you back here from my blog (thanks for the Sundowners info btw) & wanted to say "thanks" (a mere 6 years late!) for this lovely collection. I really like it when you strip everything back like this, it reminds me of your first DC e.p. - still one of my favs that one. All the best for 2010, etc. x

Hey Edith,

I just wanted to make a general comment:

Thanks for putting out such incredible music! I can't tell you how much of an inspiration you've been on my own compositions--not so much in literal sound, but in spirit. "Temporary Loan" is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. I hope that someday my songs will move others the way yours move me.

Sincerely,
Max

P.S. Come tour in D.C.!

Thanks for the tips. I've been trying to find some lonely cowboy ambient for a while now.

If you like anti-gravity with your tumbleweeds, Boards of Canada's 'The Campfire Headphase' has country leanings. But it's more electronica than ambient. The track 'Dayvan Cowboy' is really nice.
