Cool mods
Wednesday October 22, 2003 – 10:09 pmJohn sent me this cool link, Mini-ITX.com. There are a whole bunch of descriptions for crazy computer modifications people have done. Somebody made a computer out of a guitar, a lunchbox, a picture frame, even a teddy bear…!!

Mini-ITX systems are great. My housemate and I were thinking about picking up one and fashioning it into some random object (say a speaker or a textbook), and serving music and movies from it. I’ve heard about newer technologies that allow you to make even *smaller* machines with similar power and features.
The computer-in-guitar idea makes me wonder if it’s possible to build a playable guitar using one of these newfangled architectures, such that it also includes sound processing technologies. Something similar to an effects pedal or a guitar synth *in* the instrument itself. Not sure how the interface would work, though…

Oooh, Sweet! I’ve occasionally wondered if it were possible to retro-fit my old Pet and now I see on this site that somebody has (almost)

My Pet is even older and features the tiny, tiny keyboard plus built in cassette deck.

I’ve always thought that it was the best looking computer ever made.
Thanks for posting this link.
