Somebody asked me for the tabs to my song Further.  I should have just made a little chart but instead I wrote it all out for her.  Wanna see?

FURTHER:  The first chord is a normal C-major chord, in the open position (not barred).  The descending note thingy happens (use your middle finger for that!) and then you’re at an E-minor chord.  Then it just sort of toggles between those two chords for awhile.  The first weird chord happens at the word "flicker" — the C-major turns into a major-7.  That’s easy to make, you just add your pinky to the other 3 fingers.  Then at the next word "glowing" it changes to F-major, and quickly to F-minor.  I do my F chords as a bar-chord on the 1st fret, it’s easier on my hands than doing the open F chord.  The bar-chord is easy to minor-ize because you only remove 1 finger.  So, let’s continue.  You do another line the same way.  The next section (“I know how you blah blah blah) just toggles between a normal A-minor (open chord, 3 fingers required) and E-major (same shape, but moved over).  Then the next chord is umm, C-major (“somethin’ that should be…”) then the F-minor bar chord again (“saved and locked a-”) and back to C-major (“way”).  Here comes the chorus, and it’s just like the first part of the song, toggling between C-major and E-minor, and going to F-minor (“knock me down and leave me…”).  The turnaround (“further behind”) is a quick D-minor to G-major (open chords) and finally resolving to C-major.  Then there’s the instrumental section (using C -> Emin -> C), and then you start all over for the 2nd verse.  I think it’s all the same as the first verse, until the very end when there’s the funny ending… that’s just the same as the turnaround I described before, except instead of resolving the D-minor/G straight to the root (C) it decides to throw an F-minor in there, and finally mercifully goes to the C.
