Hi, welcome to Easter Bunnyland
Friday June 11, 2004 – 12:29 pmI just turned on my Windows PC for the first time in weeks and weeks. Pulled up my homepage so I could check out how my new EE layout looks in the big monitor. And oh god… it hurts, make them turn it off mommy!! It’s all purple and lavender. It is totally gay!! On the iBook the background is a straight-up powder blue and the borders are a little darker, but nothing’s all purple like that. I wonder if it’s just my monitor or if it’s really a PC thing. Blecch.
I’m scanning bits of my handwriting to get some personalization goin’ on in my site. Do you like it so far, with the page header? I know, it’s a web-cliché to use handwriting but… I have a giant ego! And I happen to like the way I write, so there. ;-)

On my PC monitor, it’s pretty purple. Lavender, I guess (I only had the 12-pack of crayons). Another thing, the handwriting scans’ background white is slightly different from the page background white. Maybe if you saved them as transparent gif instead of jpgs it would look better. (I like the handwriting, even if it is a cliche. I think it looks cool.)

Ugh. I’ll have to work on this. I’m not a graphics person — it was a major achievement that I was even able to get the scans to be halfway legible once I shrunk ‘em down. I just found a finer-tipped marker so maybe that’ll help. I think the headers look pretty good using a Sharpie but for the smaller writing… I’m testing it on my desktop and it’s not working too well.

Yes, the handwritten eveything is what’s needed. Hey, you can actually create a typefont from your very own handwriting. Imagine that! All of the text in
Eda-Cowgalâ„¢ customized type! Not only would that be cool, and unique, it would also humanize this all-too-mechanized cyberworld of on-line-land. (And you don’t have to be a graphix pro to do it) Even if you aren’t ready for that, the human touch of sub-headings in your hand is good.

yeah i like the handwriting too. your page is Lavender on my PC as well.

Clay I was just wondering if maybe you could log in when you post. Pretty please?

I am so pleased with myself here. It totally looks like I printed out my homepage and wrote all over it!!! I really like it, it’s a lot more "me" than it was before. The words aren’t perfect as far as sizing but oh well… it’s more authentic that way anyhow ‘cuz if I really were writing on a piece of paper (and I was!), I wouldn’t be able to get all the words exactly the same size, and perfectly straight etc.
Hey Jake thanks for letting me know about the white-boxes thing… it took me awhile but I figured out how to make ‘em transparent, and then Matthew showed me the Magic Eraser tool. That thing is where it’s at, man!!
So, that started out as an idle waste of time, but ended up a total success, I’d say! :-)
I’ll work on the colors some other time. The hex numbers I’m using aren’t web safe, that’s probably what’s screwing me over with the different platforms / monitors.

Edith the page is very pleasing to the eye. It’s actually my favorite site to visit due to its visually friendly layout and color-scheme (not to mention its high quality content of course). Believe it or not, it’s my homepage :-D

Ok that’s paying too much attention, heheh. I don’t even have it as my homepage! I have about:blank.

Ahoy Edith!
I just be-eth now returned from a week at sea, and truly the stench abounds. E’en now, I smelleth much like a garbage bin, tucked behind a Red Lobster on a hot summer’s day.
Avast! On the last night adrift, the mates and i got into the spirits. I drank a blackjack of wine all by my lonesome. And when I awoketh, Ol’ Richard found himself stuck to the poop deck, with my naked dungbie hanging o’er the rail! I was fit to dance the hempen jig!
By the by, Edith, thine penmanship is a sight for sore eyes! As much as Ol’Richard enjoys a good font, mayhaps the pretty scribblin’ be the better all around.
Well, I’m off to splice the mainbrace. If I start now, mayhaps I’ll be three sheets to the wind by sundown!
I hope that this message finds ye well, and of good spirit!
Cheers,
Richard the Black, esq.

The site looks good; did you change the color scheme since you posted this entry? On my Winders laptop, the pages are in various shades of blue.

Naw, I didn’t change any colors at all! I need to do that, I’m pretty sure if I just pick the equivalent colors that are WEBSAFE, I won’t have that problem anymore.

Hello! I’ve recently become quite a fan of yours, and this website provides me with many hours of timewasting (but in a good way!) every so often. Anyway, um, hi!
Oh, and the handwriting idea is good. Definitely makes the site more personal.
