I’m a top tenner!!
Saturday December 24, 2005 – 1:12 amIt’s silly, but I was so excited to find out that Bob Mehr showed me a little love on this year’s top ten for the Chicago Reader. I had been ego-surfing all the blogs with top ten lists, looking for my name and never seeing it, and thinkin’ "that’s what I get for releasing an album on November 15th!!" Oh of course it has to be a matter of timing, it couldn’t possibly mean they didn’t like my record enough, ha ha!! Anyway it’s very cool and I can stop obsessing over it now. :-) Also super SUPER cool that he placed M.O.T.O. at number one!! Paul Caporino is the hardest working man in show business, and definitely the greatest songwriter I know doing that pop/punk thang. There’s nobody on earth that deserves that spot more than him, IMHO. All hail the Masters of the Obvious!!

You might want to check out All Music. They have you as a Editors Choice for November and they gave the new album 4 1/2 stars. Pretty good.

You might be interested in checking out a couple articles I wrote. The first one mentions you:

I didn’t know that you were a fan of Phillip K. Dick. This one mentions him:

People write in to me with questions about live audio. In the process of answering them, I lambaste them. If you don’t know what that means, it means that I give them shit. You can check out many of them on my homepage.

I know Jon, I got reviews, I got interviews, I made Entertainment Weekly, No Depression, Rolling Stone Germany, blah blah blah. I was just talking about top ten lists.
OSM I saw that article when it came out — Google Alerts is handy like that. You might dig the cover of Sing Me Back Home I did on a Pine Valley Cosmonauts record some years ago. And yeah I am familiar with the word lambast / lambaste. I’ve been to college. ;-)

p.s. a little bird told me I might have been a little brusque with that comment. I forgot to say "thank you but…" before saying I’d seen those links. Sorrrryyyyyy… I hadn’t had my coffee yet even though it was 12:48 pm? MERRY CHRISTMAS everybody!! ha ha.

I love your cover of Sing Me Back Home! And speaking of ratings it’s rated quite highly on my ipod…which surely counts for something!
btw on npr’s Hello Beautiful you were mentioned as one of the good things about Chicago music! You are now a superheroic defender of Chicago’s pride, eat that New York!
