Laundry across the USA
Thursday April 18, 2002 – 1:37 pmNOW we’re in Medford, OR in a Motel 6. We had a driving day today, and tomorrow is San Francisco. Or rather, "today" since it’s frickin’ 4:30 in the morning!! Sure is nice to get a motel room though. I would be asleep right now but I’m doing laundry downstairs; it’s almost ready. We have to get up at 9:30 in order to make the 5:30 load-in at the Bottom of the Hill. Of course I can get more sleep in the van on the way there, but then who’s gonna DJ???
I am dj’ing for the guys, you see. I’m spinning MP3′s all the time, and nobody’s complaining. Well, Jason made me turn off "It’s A Small World" but other than that…!! I’m using a Rio Volt MP3-CD player, and I’ve brought my whole collection of MP3s, 70 CDs on a spindle. (I have ‘em all backed up at home just in case.) ‘Bout 16,000 songs I reckon. I’m just flipping through songs with the remote, looking at the display and trying to play only the incredibly weird and/or great tunes. I’ve been collecting them for a good while now, and I have some really intense trading buddies on Audiogalaxy. Most all my MP3s are completely wack and out of print, or else songs that I ripped from my own collection of CDs and vinyl. I’ve gotten some really unbelievable stuff on Audiogalaxy!!
Time to get the laundry!
