Saturday March 27, 2004 – 12:57 amHey, there’s a whole webpage about the Moylan Sisters!! Coooool. I have that radio broadcast on an old vinyl comp, but these MP3s are all new to me.

Very interesting these sisters are. I’d never heard of them. Cool stuff!

hello, edith. i’ve been reading your blog for awhile and commented once but never really know what to say ( i usually feel like a moron). anyways, as a huge fan i was wondering if i could ask you of a favor…
i’ve recently picked up a little deal with a label from orange ca called banazan records. i’ve been very excited and their response to my songs has been pretty great.
i was wondering if you could give me feedback on them. i respect you highly as a songwriter and would love any kind of constructive criticism you could add. i feel like an idiot asking you this cos a) you probably get this a lot and b) it may sound like i have a hidden agenda ( which i don’t).
i have had the pleasure of meeting several of my heroes but i am just not the type of fanboy to hand over my songs…it feels too cheesy and predictable, i guess.
here is the url ( made by a friend) and actual copies exist: http://www.weheldhands.com
the songs are under the bedsit infamy.
i understand if you don’t want to…i’m just wondering what someone i totally respect would think of my songs.
thanks for your time and i hope you get even more settled into the new place.

It’s nice stuff. Not the kind of thing I listen to normally, but very nice! Sorry I can’t give you a better critique; if I was any good at that I’d be a reviewer instead of a musician.

edith, thanks so much; at least you didn’t write back hating them, heh! no worries on the critque, i understand where you are coming from. thank you again for taking the time to give it a listen.
you are definitely an influence, even if it isn’t apparent.

My sister Lucie read what I said and thought I was secretly saying I hated it. I did not hate it, it’s good, dammit! Ha ha. What I meant is exactly what I said, I don’t listen to a lot of pop or indie or much of anything modern. But I could talk all day about oldtimey music, 50s rockabilly, classic country, bad / "incorrect" music and other weirdities.

The answer is yes! For you, anything. :-)

i didn’t think you hated the songs. afterall, you could have just not responded to my qeury in the first place, had you thought they were atrocious.
influences are an interesting thing. this is the first time i’ve ever done anything so poppy…which is something i won’t stick to. previous ep’s were pretty slow and miserable and there was some country twang before…
i know that i can’t do the same thing over and over, i get bored easily.
but it seems everyone treats the word ‘pop’ as such a dirty word and i thought i’d take a stab at it.
it’s ony a matter of time before i do my own calling over time, heh!

Hey Edith!
The sister singers are nice, but what I really love is the cover art!
I’ve been looking for a picture of a child praying (to complete a painting) for some time, and I might be able to use the war prayer picture.
Thanks gal!
