My songbook, myself
Wednesday February 19, 2003 – 1:32 amI’ve been trying to work on new songs practically every day, but can’t finish anything. I REALLY need to get my freakin’ songbook back; I’m afraid I’ll never get anything done without it. I accidentally left it with a friend of mine back around 9-11 and he hasn’t sent it back to me. Of course I told him how important it is to me, and that I can’t really function as a songwriter without it. He keeps saying he’ll send it but he never does. Well, I’m seeing him this weekend for sure, and you can bet I won’t leave without that thing. It serves me right, too. This is karma payback for all the friends that I myself have blown off in various ways over the years. I would love to blame my friend for all my musical constipation but I know that’s just a cop-out. What’s really to blame, I dunno. Missing my songbook sure isn’t HELPING though.
* My so-called songbook is just a spiral-bound blue notebook with my name written on the front in magic marker. I’ve been writing my songs in it for the past 15 years or so. It has all the notes-to-myself that I need to perform the songs, so I take it with me whenever I record. I used to take it with me on tour, too, but never again!!

Oh dude, I wasn’t talking about you, I was talking about my other friend that has my other songbook that I also left around 9-11. Anyway yeah, I’m gonna stick it to you good when I see you. Speaking of punishment, I TiVo’ed the Worst of American Idol, did you see it yet? Most hilarious thing I’ve seen all week.

Oh my!! I watched that American Idol thing too! I’d never seen A.I. before and my God, I pissed my pants. The Like A Virgin guy was hilarious. Not that I’m a great vocalist by any means, but I’ve never heard so many flat/shrieky voices in my life.

p.s. Did ya like the zine?
