The on-again, off-again medical traumas and illnesses of a parent is so scary for all the family, so it must be so much more so for the person going through it. Your dad’s been through so much already, and he’s not that old, even. I hope he gets through this. Each time these medical crises take a toll on you and your family, I’m sure. I’m sending all the good recovery vibes I can muster your way. [note: maybe you'll should edit out the next 66 lines, since they're more about me & my woestrhan about trying to help you & yours. I'm not so sure that "misery loves company" applies here in this situation.]
Hi Edith. I just wanted you to know that I wish you and your family goodwill during this trying time. This past year has been fraught with similar hardships for my own family, with my mother having an enitre lung removed due to cancer in late February. Although she has made an examplary recovery, the road is long and there are many set-backs. I do my best to be available to both my mother and my father as they continue this journey.
Although I do not subscribe to any organised faith or religion, I do believe in some form of greater power or plan. I also believe there is no way of knowing what lies beyond this life we live until it is over. Therefore, it is important that we make the most of the time that we have. I hope that this message finds you well.

Thanks Clay. I wasn’t sure if you really really wanted me to edit that, so I did just to be safe. I’ll write you direct.
