Kiss my ass

Still can’t reach my site, and still haven’t heard from Binary Blocks, other than the automatic e-mail reply I got earlier.  I’m so pissed… they can kiss my ass goodbye.  I just signed up for another webhosting account, this time at ICDSoft.  Saw a lot of good reviews about it; hopefully it’ll work out for me.  I’m uploading my site as we speak, and will soon be going over to Network Solutions to change the DNS info.

Website and mail down

My edithfrost.com website and e-mail are down, yet again!  I’m going to have to re-post this after it comes back online.  Can’t raise anyone on their tech support number.  If this is going to be another outage that doesn’t get fixed until 10am Monday morning, I am so outta here!!

Story of an AG programmer

Kuro5hin’s got a great story on Audiogalaxy, written by a former employee.  Must-read.

Mail migration

John’s chopping up vegetables for lasagna; we’re having some pals over for dinner and to watch the Mr. Show DVD.  It’ll be a repeat for me but who cares.  Our guests are Sean, a friend of John’s from work, and her s.o. John Forbes.  He has a band called Tijuana Hercules and used to be in another one called Mount Shasta.

I migrated almost all my archived mail folders to OS X’s Mail.app, using the Eudora Mailbox Cleaner utility I got on VersionTracker.  There were a few stubborn folders that wouldn’t migrate; they’re corrupt and need to be edited or something, but life is too short.  I also brought all my contacts into OS X’s Address Book.  I wish they’d hurry up and update that thing, it’s just feeble.  The only thing I like about it is that if you add pictures to your contacts, the pictures show up in your e-mail messages next to the sender’s name.  That’s pretty spiffy.

Sweatiest city in the USA

San Antonio, the city of my birth, has been named the sweatiest city in the whole U.S.A.  I always think people are nuts when they ask me how I can live in a cold place like Chicago.  Avoiding the heat is a full-time occupation where I come from.

Pointing fingers

John pointed me towards a scary article over here that blames the 9/11 attacks on the Bush administration.  Worst case scenario: they let it happen on purpose.  Best case: they had their thumbs up their asses.

Glenn Kotche in the Reader

Glenn Kotche, my old pal who played drums on Wonder Wonder, got featured in the Chicago Reader music section this week.  Attaboy Glenn!!  He’s a superstar, no doubt about it.  So, the story explains in detail how I taught him everything he knows, and also touches upon how I introduced him to everyone he’s ever met.  (heeheehee!!)

Gadget geek

Wow, it looks like my old Iomega Predator CD/RW drive finally works in iTunes, since the OS X 10.1.5 update.  Which means I can take it on the road with me if I want.  I don’t want, but it’s good to know I can!  One more M$ roadblock removed.  :-)

Sitting uncomfortably

I heard back from Binary Blocks; they don’t think the server will have any more problems.  Um… okay…

Here’s some heavy news… (sorry… bad joke!!) Southwest Airlines will begin charging "persons of size" for two seats if they think they may not fit comfortably in one.  (Here’s the link.) What a crocka bull.  Nobody can sit comfortably in any coach-class airline seat!!

Website down. :-(

It’s midnight and my website and e-mail have been down since mid-afternoon.  I wrote an e-mail to Binary Blocks, and called their tech-support number twice, but no one’s gotten back to me.  They did respond to my e-mails from this weekend to say that they’d had trouble with a client’s site, moved him to another server and that I wouldn’t have any more problems.  Famous last words.

Au revoir to AG pals

I’m running around on Audiogalaxy trying to gather e-mail addresses and new locations for all the people I’ve met in the past ~2 years, and all the genre-specific groups I’ve joined at one time or another.  It’s pretty sad.  The message boards over there are all boiling over with postings.  Most people are cursing the RIAA and a lot of them are swearing they’ll never buy another CD again.  I keep thinking… please don’t boycott the INDIE labels!! But it’s no use, people are just furious, and for good reason.  It’s like someone coming in and taking away our TV remote… we want to be able to hear good music, and THEN choose what we’re going to buy, not the other way around!  And most of all, we want access to music that is no longer in print.  For me that’s the biggest problem of all.  If you can’t buy something, and you’re not allowed to share anything but the "authorized" material, then 90% of everything that’s ever been recorded in the past hundred years is off-limits.  That’s just a crime; there has to be a better way!!

AG shutdown in the news

The bad news about Audiogalaxy is starting to reach the masses.  Check out the article on CNET, and the furious postings on Zeropaid.  Quote of the day: "f#$@ the moterf#$@in dick sucking assholes you bicthass $h1ts!!!".  I feel the same way exactly.

Audiogalaxy is done for

Looks like Audiogalaxy is done for.  My queue suddenly disappeared; every song on the whole site is now blocked!  Except for the few things that are being specially hosted on AG’s own servers, which is nothing I really want.  They’ve fixed it so musicians are going to have to "opt in" to get their songs shared on AG… which means my little group is kaput.

Website’s working again

Website’s working again.  I have no idea why it was down so long, but hey, let’s not get too spoiled over this internet thing.  It was tired, it needed a weekend to itself, I dunno!!

Boxmobile, sensitive brains

My whole website and mailserver have been down for like 24 hours straight, which does not please me at all.  I can still blog though; I’ll just post it when the server’s back up.

John and I bought a bunch of moving boxes and tape at the U-haul place today.  I wanna go into the box business, they’re makin’ a killing over there!!  Somebody needs to create the "Box Exchange".  For like $20 you join the club for life, and agree to donate your extra boxes whenever you can.  You gotta move?  You tell us how many boxes you need and what sizes, and you can either pick ‘em up, or for $10 we’ll deliver these semi-used boxes to you.  When you’re done unpacking at the new place, you call us and we’ll come retrieve the boxes so we can loan ‘em to the next person that needs ‘em.
