So they got him
Sunday December 14, 2003 – 10:24 pmIt’s all over the news, but I guess I should post something about this so my "On This Day…" doodad will make sense next year. I was up in the wee hours on Saturday/Sunday and got early word of Saddam’s capture via a post on Metafilter. I’m glad they caught him, but I dread what’s coming next. I don’t believe in an eye for an eye. I’m afraid it’s going to be brutal, and I guess I’d just rather see him be locked up and humiliated for the rest of his life rather than killed. But maybe they won’t. If they kill him, some will consider him a martyr, and that would be bad.
Where’s Osama anyway? Sooner or later they’ll get him too I’m sure.

you’re not the only one wondering what will happen to saddam, edith. like most things iraq, it appears the administration never thought through what they would do when they captured him. which is funny, because it’s being suggested that they knew about 3 weeks ago they would be collecting saddam after they began negotiating $ with the guerrillas who were holding him captive for ransom. but then halliburton’s prices started getting play, and the only new job creation is in the temp industry, and you know, we gotta move on this saddam thing…yes, i have my tinfoil hat on.
as for saddam’s personal fate, the administration now says it will be the iraqis’ decision. i am clueless as to what form of justice that would be, or whether that would give him the opportunity to air every other country’s dirty laundry. some help out there?
