World champions!!!

Cubs congratulate White Sox

Yep, congratulations to the White Sox for sweeping the Series this year.  And, my sincerest condolences to my brother-in-law Mark and my nephew Thomas, both Astros fans who had tickets to game five, which of course won’t be happening… I do feel bad for them.  Seriously.  Ten year old kid with a ticket to the freakin’ World Series and he can’t even go, how heartbreaking is that?!?

But other than THAT, I’m totally stoked.  Yeah, I’ve been a Cubs fan for awhile, but now I’m a Sox fan too.  I can dig ‘em both, it’s okay.  :-)

Take E out to the ball game

our seatsYesterday me and Sarah Pop-Tart went to see the Cubs play against the Montreal Expos.  They lost but we had SOOOO much fun anyway. This was Lucie’s present to me for my 40th birthday… the people in front of us said I only look 30, tee hee.

Here’s where we were sitting up until the 10th inning or so.  Don’t worry, we could totally see the pitcher since he was standing on the forward side of the mound.

the seats we stoleWe moved closer and closer after that, until we were almost in the very front section. They wouldn’t let us get any closer than that.

Cubs games sure are great for people-watching.  I kinda fell in love with this geeky-looking tall blonde guy who was sitting to our right.  But oh well, I never got his name or even said hi.  I’m way too shy to talk to guys I don’t know and he looked like the same kinda person, oh well.  He did give us a little goodbye wave as he was leaving though, which makes me think I was probably staring at him a little too much.  Eeek!!  :-o

Cubs win again!!!!  Horns are honking, firecrackers are going off in our neighborhood, people are shrieking and yelling.  Are we going to the freakin’ World Series?  Can someone explain what is going on here?  I wish I could read some kind of Baseball for Dummies type thing.  From what I understand, tomorrow’s game will decide it, but if we win, are we really going and who are we up against?  This is so exciting and I barely know what’s going on!!!

YESSS!!!  Chicagooooooo!!!!

Cubs win again!!!!  Helluva game, it went into eleven innings.  They are kicking ASS!!!!  Way to go Cubbies!!!!!

YEAH!!!  OWWWW!!!!!!!!  WOOOO-HOOO!!!!!!

clap clap clap clap clap clap clap clap!!!!

GO CUBBIEEEEES!!!!

John and I have been watching the playoffs every night.  Last night against the Marlins was a real nail-biter, but we ended up losing… tonight we’re whippin’ ‘em like a sorry mule.  They must have partied too hard last night!  There was a funny column in the Sun-Times today about all this hoopla.  Being a Cub fan is an exercise in futility… whole generations growing up loving a dog of a team.  We KNOW they’re total losers, and we love them anyway, it’s just part of the fun.  Now that they’re actually winning, it’s a joyous event for Chicago sports, but what’s it going to be like to follow a winning team when we’re so attached to them as losers?  Let’s just say for the sake of argument that they keep on winning here, and go to the World Series and win that — yeah right!!  I just can’t imagine this.  It would be awesome for the city — it’s already brought in millions of dollars, and Wrigleyville is looking like Times Square on New Year’s Eve every time we have a home game.  It’s just so much fun, I’m tickled to death they’re doing so well.  And I’m not even a big fan normally, just getting swept up in the excitement.  God bless America!!

Go Cubs!!!

The Cubs won both games today, so they’re going to the playoffs.  SWEET!!  I’m barely aware of sports normally, but I can’t help but get caught up in the excitement, being a northsider after all.  Whoo-hoo!!!  What a great thing for Chicago.  :-D It’s going to be a crazy night I bet, looks like pandemonium down in Wrigleyville.
