I sang backups on the song “Just a Star”.

Canasta album & show

We Were Set UpHeads up, music lovers! Canasta is a great Chicago chamber pop sexy-tet who just got tagged by Songs:Illinois. They’re good pals of mine; they put out an EP last year, and their first album We Were Set Up is coming out in November. It can be pre-ordered now via their website. I did background vocals on the song "Just a Star", and will be attempting to recreate those harmonies at their CD release party at Subterranean on Friday Nov. 18th. (My release party is the next day, you should go to that too!)

Me and John C

Eric took this pic today (=yesterday), of me and John Cunningham from the band Canasta… I guess this is a good opportunity to plug the fact that I sang some backup vocals for a song that’ll be on their new record We Were Set Up, coming out in October.  They’re playing on the 20th at the Beat Kitchen and doing CMJ this year as well, so catch ‘em whenever you can, they’re very good.

Canasta

CanastaI went with Eric Ziegenhagen last night to see Canasta at the Ice Factory.  They’re really good, I guess you’d call it "chamber pop".  Their fiddle player Elizabeth is playing with Eric tonight at his show at the Beat Kitchen and I’ll be doing harmonies on a few songs too.  Yay!!  I love Eric’s songs and I love singing harmonies, so I’m psyched he’s lettin’ me horn in on that.  :-)
