Coffee’s on at Jodie’s- I’m fighting another cold. We went to Jodie’s today though; that’s always good for you! I took a picture of the coffeemaker for some reason. #

- Listening to the new Morning Recordings… I sang on 3 songs, and lead on one? Really? I thought I was only on the one, doing backups! Psych #

Monday March 28, 2005 – 11:23 pmTo catch up a little with my blogging, here are just a few highlights from the past few weeks:
- Playing a really fun show with Eric @ Mother Fool’s in Madison
- Seeing the Wisconsin Dells for the first time driving around at two in the morning during off-season
- Bottle of wine at the top of the Hyatt in downtown Dallas (the one with the big ball on top)
- SXSW — seeing Michelle Shocked, Harvey Sid Fisher and the Ditty Bops, among others
- Seeing Mama, Lucie, Marshall, Lilly, Lindy, Mimo, Uncle Dan, Lee & Lisa… anybody else I forgot?
- My own SXSW showcase
- Feasting w/ Eric @ Golden Corral in Texarkana
- Back in Chicago, seeing Blackbird‘s Patty Red Pants at the Chopin
- A wonderful lazy Easter weekend with you-know-who, starting with an off-the-cuff dinner at Mi Tierra
Low point of our Austin trip: Taking Eric to the top of Mount Bonnell and finding a BUILDING under construction up there, WTF!?!?
Tonight (=last night) we saw the movie Heat at the Gene Siskel Center. Fuckin’ awesome — almost three hours long but I never thought about the time.
A good day for soup
Wednesday February 2, 2005 – 6:22 amI wish I could write like Darling Nikki!! She’s writin’ frickin’ Neuromancer over there and I’m all "I like to take BATHS!" ::sigh:: I guess I yam what I yam. But I wish I could write like Darling Nikki.
Lazy weekend
Monday January 31, 2005 – 9:13 amMe and Sarah D. went skating last night — finally! ‘cuz we’d been putting it off for awhile. Eric came along too. Yes, he can skate! Or more importantly, he will skate. So that was lots of fun. Other than that my weekend was pretty lazy. We stayed up real late on Friday at the Hideout and went to the Hollywood afterwards with Nell and Geoff and Sarah G. Saturday we lollygagged around for a long time and then had lunch/dinner at Chipotle. I’m not much of a burrito gal but that was really good so I’ll make an exception for that place. Sunday, skating. And now back to work!

Drill down to the Calvin Trillin article. I only ate here once… naturally, I promptly forgot what it was called and where it was located. It should remain an enigma stuffed in a hollowed-out loaf of bread fried in boiling pickle-juice and garnished with gummy-bear pico de gallo.
Fun Fun Fun Club

Hey there, happy Halloween!! I just got back to the hotel after the show in Sevilla at the Fun Club. I KILLED tonight. Swear to god. The sound was really really good, at least for me, so that made it a lot easier to hear myself well and put on a good show. Also, all the employees of Green UFOs were there (the folks who put this Spanish part of the tour together), so I guess I wanted to do really well so they could see what a kickass performer I am. Hahaha!! Good thing they didn’t see me last night in Puerto Real. ;-)
I’m so relieved

The show went great!!!! I was feeling really really jumpy beforehand. Ryan and I hadn’t played together in about six months, unless you count Ryan’s birthday party show we did in July, where I did mostly cover tunes anyway. Tonight we played in one of the university’s auditoriums, or maybe it was the only one, I’m not sure. It’s an old chapel that got converted into an auditorium about four years ago, they told me… not too big and not too little. I guess there were around 150 or 200 people. The acoustics were really really great. I could hear everything perfectly and didn’t have to ask the soundman to adjust a thing. All the seats were full and people were standing in back and on the sides. The audience was so nice. I was talking mostly in Spanish wherever I could, and I even did a song in Spanish for one of the encores, an old Lydia Mendoza cover called "No Es Culpa Mia". I GOT TWO ENCORES!!!! I’m totally stoked. :-)
