From Yahoo! News: Queen Victoria illegitimate?

A book to be published this week says that Queen Victoria may have been illegitimate, possibly undermining the whole Royal Family’s legitimacy <…>

Family photos

Note: This is a journal entry — it was written on paper or on my computer, then transferred to my website, maybe years later.

Just got off the phone with Uncle Tom Frost in San Antonio – he’s been bugging me intensely to send him some family photos he needs for a genealogy project he’s doing.  He’s making a book about the Frosts and wants to include a bunch of photos I posted to MyFamily.com.  The photos I scanned aren’t good enough, they want the originals.  John said he can pack them up for me at work, they have all the supplies to mail oddly-shaped photographs.  Still, what a pain.  One of these old photos is huge, around two feet by one foot!  And definitely not rollable, so you couldn’t send it in a poster tube.

Good King William

The family tree’s been bothering me.  I deleted all that crap about being descended from William the Conqueror… I was looking at the dates, and checking some stuff out on the web about that lineage, and I can’t seem to find any that agree with each other!  It all looked so fishy to me that I just got out the pruning shears and deleted everything I could find that was before the year 1500.  An arbitrary number but it’s easy to remember!

UPDATE: Of course I later decided to put it back online, for better or for worse…

My 3-way link to Benedict Arnold

My ancestry section is growing, whether you care about that stuff or not. I’ve now traced three different indirect pathways to Benedict Arnold, a guy who was real popular with the British but got a bit of a bad reputation over here!

I’m only related to Benedict Arnold through marriage, not blood.  But if you want, you can still use this to explain why I’m such a bitch for ignoring my e-mail, owing you money, etc.

My link to William the Conqueror (King of England)

I’ve been doing a huuuuge genealogy project, making a giant tree for myself and my family.  I’m going to put some family-related goodies up here soon, since I’m already sharing my tree with other folks anyhow.  But for now, have a look at my supposed link to William the Conqueror, King of England.

Now I practically have a license to act like a f*cking princess!

NOTE: I later deleted this thing for probable errors, but now I think it might be okay, though many of the dates still seem fishy.
