Hey dude, be cool and stay in school!

Be cool and stay in school!

I found this bookmark in an old book I bought in the early 90s when I lived in New York. So funny. I’m using it now for the CSS book I’m reading… he’s definitely encouraging me to BE COOL and keep at it. I’m 3/4 of the way through now! That’s about the farthest I’ve ever gotten in any computer book. I’m learning so much so fast, and with this dude’s help I’m determined to make it to the end!

One week left

Sorry I’ve been so quiet, I’ve been swamped with stuff to do, getting ready to leave for the tour next Friday.  Lotta rehearsing, lotta errand-running, lotta interviews and press-related stuff.  I’ll be so happy once we’re finally out on the road and not worrying about the preparatory crap!  Oh by the way, we’re still trying to scope out potential crash-pads in certain cities along the way, so if you have any bright ideas about that, gimme a holler.  I won’t sleep in your bed with you though, sorry.  Heh.

Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific

Oh god, I used to use this shit in the 70s. And remember Short ‘n Sassy, Dorothy Hammill’s shampoo? That too.

MetaFilter: Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific

Cut my hair

Yup, I got about ten inches chopped off yesterday evening.  Big whoop, you say?  Well it’s somewhat noteworthy for me since I only get it done maybe once every two or three years.  I didn’t go to Archer’s this time, I actually paid for it!  Went to the salon up the street, and was rewarded by tons of good neighborhood gossip about the different businesses opening and closing around here.  (That’s what hairdressers are really good for.)

Hate my hair

I’m trying to grow out my stupid bangs, which I’ve been cutting myself for the past seven or eight years.  I’m at that really difficult, awkward stage.  I’ve got this one hunk of hair that won’t stop bothering me.

Birth of the Marfa Lights

Note: This is a journal entry — it was written on paper or on my computer, then transferred to my website, maybe years later.

And I have the IRS where I want them on the 15th of April 1993, as Arthur would say.  From the 18th of August in 1964 to April 15th 1993, 28 years old so far so good (and so on).

Things are going so well I can’t believe it.  I actually got a big refund on both my NY state and federal tax returns because of the loss we took when we sold the family-property moneypit.  I’m so relieved about that — I had no idea — I thought I was going to owe a lot of money.
