  • Missing my old roller-skating buddies. What happened to all the rinks – people only skate in the street? This is supposed to be California! #
  • My pal Jeff Economy is interviewing Porter Wagoner next week. Wickedly, I told him to ask PW if he’s heard of Cynthia Plastercaster. Hee!! #
  • Plopped a discography box front’n'center on my index page. So now it’s even messier, but at least ppl will be aware I’m a fucking musician. #

Birthday skate

Drawing by Laura ParkA present from Laura Park.  :-) Did I tell y’all she’s doing all the lettering and drawings for my new album?  It kicks ass, you’ll see.

Everything works out

I thought tonight (=last night) was gonna end up suckin’ a llama’s dick — I was all ready to be bummed and stressed out ‘cuz it’s the night before I start recording and all.  Poor, poor Edith!!  It’s not the recording so much, it’s that the skating thing didn’t work out and I got a little disappointed about that.  (Because I’m stressed about the recording and I needed a scapegoat for that, so Not Going Skating was the most obvious choice.) But I got back together with Eric again anyway, he broke out some champagne, took me to his rooftop, got me all tipsy and made sure I had a really fun, special night after all.  What a great pal he is!!  Yay.

Lazy weekend

Me and Sarah D. went skating last night — finally!  ‘cuz we’d been putting it off for awhile.  Eric came along too.  Yes, he can skate!  Or more importantly, he will skate.  So that was lots of fun.  Other than that my weekend was pretty lazy.  We stayed up real late on Friday at the Hideout and went to the Hollywood afterwards with Nell and Geoff and Sarah G.  Saturday we lollygagged around for a long time and then had lunch/dinner at Chipotle.  I’m not much of a burrito gal but that was really good so I’ll make an exception for that place.  Sunday, skating.  And now back to work!

Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific

Oh god, I used to use this shit in the 70s. And remember Short ‘n Sassy, Dorothy Hammill’s shampoo? That too.

Quoted in the Reader

My weblog got quoted in this week’s Reader, in an article about the closing of the Rainbo Roller Rink.  They referred to me as "roller skating enthusiast Edith Frost"… kinda pathetic that I’m better-known as a skater than I am as a singer.  Hmmmph.  Anyway, I couldn’t find it online or I’d link to it.

Goodbye Rainbo

They’ve closed down the Rainbo Roller Rink!  What a shame, I had lots of good times there.  They had a good wood floor and it was the only skating rink I’d ever been to that allowed skating while drinking.  It was also the only one I’d ever seen that had two levels of skating; the main floor downstairs and another little floor upstairs by the bar.  Did I mention it had a bar?  Only in Chicago, the same place where you can buy hard liquor at the grocery store, right in the aisle next to the potato chips.
