Tiger in my tank
Friday April 29, 2005 – 4:28 amToday at 6pm Apple will be releasing the new version of OS X; I’m backing up my shit now in preparation to upgrade my iBook. I don’t know why I get so excited about these things, I guess I’m just easily entertained. Because in truth it doesn’t sound like there are all that many new features I can’t live without. Widgets? Bah. Spotlight? Eh, I’m so used to Quicksilver it’s probably not going to change my life very much. But I gotta have the latest and greatest OS, that’s what I’ve always done and will always do, so you better not stand in my way.

Did you hear about the people that were able to pick up Tiger from the store early, and Apple had a conniption about it… said that if they didn’t return their copies until the release date, they would be considered pirates and not receive any support from Apple for the life of their OS.

Just came from a lovely party at your Mom’s house. It reminded me to ask if you knew Jonathan Lethem mentioned your music in "Fortress of Solitude" and to say that I was sorry I missed your visit to Austin.

I picked it up today. I’m hesitant about installing a new OS, especially one for which there aren’t any patches and under which I know a lot of apps will break. I realize, though, that I’ve got users who want the latest and greatest. And if anything breaks for them, they’re going to ask me what’s going on, so I need to install it to learn how to solve problems and find workarounds. (Thank goodness for Carbon Copy Cloner!)
