Well I am Shocked and Amazed that I have neglected writing for so long.  I’ve been involved in a lot of things, and lazy besides.

Ever since I came back from Texas, we’ve had nothing but snow and ice, more snow and more ice — I think three separate snowstorms, making the entire city an ice rink. We had three more inches today, and really, if it rains and turns to ice again I’m gonna get the skates out.  So we haven’t been able to make trips in the car except a few trips for clean clothes & provisions.

The worst thing about the big freeze is that the water main on our block broke AGAIN. It’s been two days with no water and the toilets are full of bad smells that need flushing, the sink’s full of dirty dishes, and this morning (and probably tomorrow) I had to take a shower at Tom’s, D. has showers where he works. They’re out there digging it up but who knows how long it will take, oy vey.

I went to see a neurologist about my hand pain which I thought was carpal tunnel syndrome, but it turned out to be a mild case of the other tunnel syndrome, "ULNAL." This is the nerve that starts in the elbow and goes to serve your pinky and ring fingers.  So basically I’d been leaning on my elbow, or pressing my arm along that nerve somewhere, pinching it or whatever so it manifested itself in finger pain. He told me to quit doing that.  Wear an elbow pad if you have to, otherwise we’re gonna have to hook your arm up to Frankenstein electroshock equipment to find out if there’s a bone spur pressing on the nerve or something else besides just leaning on your arms. Like, DUH! I got an elbow pad but it’s too uncomfortable. Lately I’ve been laying my computer keyboard on my lap to type, and that seems to have helped a lot.  I don’t have the aches & numbness, just a little tingling maybe.

On my way back from the doctor, I found a needlepoint store on E. 79th., Rita’s, and they had the string I use for bracelets. I also bought a needlepoint canvas, my first work, a future pillow I guess. It’s a geometric, colorful thing with a bird in the middle. I’ve been working a lot on it, seeing as how I can’t leave the house.

I’ve rehearsed twice with the Tailfins since the holidays, and once with Deborah. I need to set up a rehearsal and studio time for the Marfa Lights also. Tom’s been out of town for his brother’s wedding in Madison.

Vic got fired on Monday.  Well, she was a hardass anyway.  But they might bring in somebody worse, that’s what we’re all afraid of.

People who have quit/got fired from Muze since I came on board last March: Julian. Marion C. Andrea C. Wendy V.  Angela G.  David B.  Steve P.  Joaquin C.  Vic, Phil K, Jasmine, Nicole.
