Unprepared for popularity
Monday January 23, 2006 – 5:19 pmFor what I’m pretty sure is the first time in the history of this website in all its many iterations, I have gone beyond the allotted bandwidth doled out monthly by my webhost. They’re not going to turn it off right away but I do have to pay extra, and that sucks. The big spike seems to have come courtesy of a well-meaning blogger who posted direct links to an old video of mine which a couple of hundred people then downloaded. Said blogger had no idea that it would screw me over but oh well, I am glad so many people got to enjoy the video. Still, in retrospect I really wish they’d just asked my permission to host it themselves fer cryin’ out loud.
Please note: I’ve temporarily removed my video and MP3 folders to conserve bandwidth until the end of the month so I won’t have to pay any more than I have to. Sorry sorry sorry if you’re trying to download something, but I just can’t afford the extra expense right now. If you gotta have something before then, post a comment and maybe I can e-mail it to you.

hey, listen, check out dreamhost.com, they just upped our bandwidth to a retarded amount, more than we could ever use. it’s super cheap. you might be able to get your videos and mp3s back up without having to pay anymore, may be even cheaper too. good luck, sorry i missed them!

Thanks but no thanks, I’m not in the market for a new host, it’s not that time of year yet. And I’ve had such good luck with ICDSoft that I really don’t want to leave ‘cuz I’ve had nightmarish experiences elsewhere. Plus, Dreamhost is a lot more expensive than ICDSoft… the last time I checked it was $120/year compared to my $60/year which turned into $40 after my first year. I’m sure you get a lot for your money there and a lot of people I’ve talked to have been very happy with it, but I’m already paying too much for my interweb activities.
I forgot to mention that my Demos album is hosted at Archive.org so it’s still there for the grabbin’! And there are some tunes from my albums on MySpace, listenable if not downloadable.
