Where’s Opal?
Wednesday January 22, 2003 – 8:52 pmI used to follow All My Children for a few years in the late 80s / early 90s, and oh dear, now I’m hooked again. ‘Cuz when we got TiVo, I decided to try watching it for a few days to see if I could possibly understand what was going on. I set up a season-pass thingy and figured I would delete it soon after. But I didn’t delete it, I’ve watched every show for a few weeks now and it’s making enough sense that I keep watching. I am really confused about all these characters though. There are some characters I remember and lots that I don’t. Remember back in the nineties when Erica found out that her father was a circus clown? Heheh.
Watching AMC with the help of TiVo makes all the difference. First of all I suck with the concept of time, so I never turn the TV on when I’m supposed to. Secondly, I can’t watch AMC too closely; my attention keeps wandering off because I’m doing ten things at once. So this way if I get lost, I can roll it back and figure out what I missed. In the 90s I used to set the timer to record AMC with my VCR and do the same thing. I had an old worn-out AMC tape that I just kept using over and over.

Hello, my name is Matthew and I am a recovering soap opera addict.
It has been 10 years since I last watched my drug of choice, Days of our Lives.
I am currently on the methadone of 24 and Alias.

dude, 24 is awesome. It’s my next favorite show to the Sopranos…and The Family Guy. my sister made me watch Days of our lives when we were younger. we used to reenact the episodes and record them on home video.

I’m hooked on Serial Experiments Lain, currently being run on TechTV’s ‘Anime Unleashed’. I watch Screen Savers on TechTV a lot. Also love the stupid stuff like Trigger Happy TV, Crank Yankers, TV Funhouse. John and I watch old Larry Sanders episodes all the time, and Mr. Show whenever it comes on HBO. I put on Teletubbies in the morning while I drink my coffee. :-)

If you like Lain, check out Boogiepop Phantom, which in my opinion is better done than Lain. It certainly is confusing though.

Well, now is sort of a good time to jump in… the episode on Sunday was titled "A New Beginning" and was sort of designed to bring new viewers in, so it is worth a shot to try to get into it… a lot of the complicated story arcs have been somewhat resolved… so go for it!
